Katie Thomas studied Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Noted as a leading choral music specialist in the UK, she is in demand as a conductor, workshop leader and guest conductor.
She is artistic director and conductor of The Constellation Club, her own professional orchestra & choir, and consultant to the BBC Symphony Chorus, visiting conductor at Royal College of Music and assistant conductor of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Katie adjudicates at choral festivals worldwide for INTERKULTUR and tutors in conducting technique for the Association of British Choral Directors.
In 2018 she worked for the first time as guest conductor of the BBC Singers, and will make her international debut as chorus master of the MDR-Chor at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig later in the year.
As a professional singer, Katie performed worldwide with The Monteverdi Choir (also as rehearsal assistant to Sir John Eliot Gardiner), Polyphony, the Academy of Ancient Music and Tenebrae at venues ranging from Wigmore Hall London to the Vienna Musikverein and Carnegie Hall, New York.
